CONTAINMENT LEVEL
A three-state adaptive horror audio system progressing from environmental exploration to tension and active danger.
The demonstration simulates a game-driven intensity system. Exploration remains active throughout, while Tension and Danger layers enter additively as the threat state increases.
0:00 — Exploration
Sparse environmental drone, granular air, tonal fragments and distant structural events.
0:56 — Tension
Pressure drone, warning pulses and electrical interference enter additively.
1:53 — Danger
Impact pulses, distortion bed and dissonant stabs create the highest-intensity state.
Project Role
Composition, sound design, adaptive-system design, mixing
Tools
Ableton Live 12 Suite, Operator, Wavetable, Granulator III, Simpler
System Design
Three additive intensity states with synchronized transitions: Exploration, Tension, and Danger.
Ashen Crown
An original orchestral fantasy cue composed in Ableton Live 12 Suite. The piece begins as a restrained exploration theme for a ruined mountain kingdom, then transforms into a full boss-battle arrangement when the Ashen King awakens.
The same central motif carries through both states, shifting from soft piano, low strings, distant horns, choir, and ceremonial percussion into aggressive string ostinatos, heavy orchestral drums, brass accents, and a larger choral presence. The transition was designed to feel like one continuous game score rather than two unrelated tracks.
Exploration
Sparse piano, sustained strings, low choir, distant horn phrases, and ceremonial drum pulses establish a cold and ancient world.
Boss Awakens
A rising string transition and orchestral impact announce the encounter.
Boss Battle
The exploration motif returns in a more forceful form, supported by rhythmic low strings, brass, choir, and layered percussion.

Roguelike Dungeon Theme
Designed for a dark roguelike or dungeon crawler, this piece begins with slow-moving drones, distant choir, and metallic echoes before gradually introducing its main rhythmic layers. The arrangement becomes heavier as the player moves deeper into the environment, eventually opening into a full combat section with double-tracked rhythm guitars, aggressive synth bass, orchestral low strings, and mechanical drums.
Rather than treating exploration and combat as separate pieces, the track develops one central musical identity across both states. Familiar motifs and textures remain present as the intensity changes, allowing the music to escalate without losing its atmosphere.
The goal was to create something dark and heavy without relying on traditional heroic fantasy scoring. Industrial sound design, distorted electronics, low orchestral instruments, and modern metal guitars give the track a hostile, physical character.
The final bass-led outro was added to give the portfolio version a deliberate ending while preserving the option to export a seamless gameplay loop separately.
